Experience Requirements

The following requirements are in place to fly solo or as Pilot In Command in club aircraft.

Archers

A member who is a private pilot may act as Pilot In Command providing he or she meets the FAA requirements (private pilot certificate, medical, BFR, etc.). From time to time, the club may also allow students to receive dual instruction or solo in one or more of the Archers.

Dakota

In order to fly as Pilot In Command in the Dakota, the pilot needs the FAA required stuff as above, plus 100 hours total time, and a High Performance endorsement, 5 hours in make and model, and a club checkout. The club checkout counts towards the 5 hours.

Notes

The term total time means just that - total logged time including dual instruction towards your private certificate and solo and PIC time.

The member can receive dual instruction in the appropriate club plane to gain the experience required. Your club checkout in the plane is included in the experience requirement, so if you need 5 hours in the Dakota, you can just get a really slow and thorough club checkout.

The yearly club check ride must be flown in the highest class of aircraft that the member flies in the club. A checkout in a higher category of plane or a biennial flight review in your highest class of aircraft can substitute for the yearly club check ride.
